Philips Korea appoints new country manager

Philips Korea announced Tuesday it has appointed Dominique Oh, 47, general manager of its healthcare division, as country manager.

Oh is replacing outgoing chief Kim Tae-young who was appointed as an advisor for Philips Korea and head of strategic partnerships in the ASEAN and Pacific regions.

“Oh has led the business sector successfully at multinational companies for over 20 years. He will empower the organization’s new changes and lead innovation in the Korean market at the same time,” Harjit Gill, CEO of Philips Asia-Pacific said in a statement.

Prior to joining Philips Korea as vice president of the healthcare sector in September 2013, Oh, a French citizen, began his career at CNES, the French national institution of Space, as a research development engineer in 1991.

He built up his experiences in sales and the business sector followed by various positions at French companies such as France’s defense electronics system company Thales in 1994 and Thompson Multimedia in 1997.

He was in charge of cell phone marketing and domestic product planning at LG Electronics Mobile Communications from 2006 before moving to Apple Korea from 2011 to 2012 working as CEO.
