Pulmuone opens Korean snack bar in Beijing

Pulmuone said Wednesday its food services affiliate ECMD made inroads into the Chinese market by opening a snack bar in Beijing Station.

The restaurant named “Beijing Pulmuone Green Foods” will sell a variety of Korean snacks, such as tteokbokki, rice cake seasoned with red pepper paste, dumpling and udon, as well as ice cream.

The first store is located in the first and second floor of Beijing Station. The food will be priced at from 12 yuan ($1.93) to 26 yuan.

“Korean food is drawing attention in China on the back of rising popularity of hallyu or Korean wave,” said Bok Jun-young, Executive Managing Director at ECMD in a statement.

“We will expand our outlets to provide healthy food to more Chinese.”

The food affiliate formed a business alliance with Beijing Hanjingmei Food & Service in March, which operates a Korean food business in Beijing Station.
