McDonald's Korea names new country manager

Joe Erlinger has been appointed the new managing director of McDonald’s Korea, the firm announced Monday, replacing outgoing country manager Sean Newton.

The company said Erlinger was recognized for his abundant experience and his exceptional performance at McDonald’s headquarters over the last 10 years.

Erlinger started his career at the company as senior manager of the strategic planning team at company headquarters in 2002. He has been in charge of operations and management for various regions in the United States.

He will serve as managing director from May 1, in his first overseas position.

“This year marks great significance as we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the company’s launch in Korea. I’m very delighted and honored to be at McDonald’s Korea, which is one of the most important and fastest growing markets among the various countries that McDonald’s has entered,” he said.

“With the customers’ continuous love and McDonald’s success in the past 25 years, I will dedicate myself to ensuring that McDonald’s will offer the best menus and service that corresponds to the market’s needs and customer trends for further growth.”
