Daewoo Securities is one of the active leaders of corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaigns.
According to the company, it has consistently implemented a number of CSR activities to help the marginalized people in the society.
Employees of the company have voluntarily donated part of their monthly salary, all of which is contributed to a total of 109 charities, including 48 educational groups for teenagers in low income families, 19 organizations dealing with the country’s multi-cultural families, 15 infant caring facilities and 14 organizations for the disabled.
So far, about 42 million won has been saved by around 2,600 employees, who also participate in voluntary activities at least once a year.
Indeed, the company was an active leader of CSR last year. It awarded 120 middle school students in low income families with a scholarship, gave out free Braille information instruments to the visually impaired and provided the elderly with free check-ups.
In July last year, KDB Daewoo Securities launched “JUMP UP Project,” which was designed for young businesspeople who want to set up their business and need substantial support from experts.
The company worked together with the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency and Social Enterprise Gyeonggi Foundation.
It has actively participated in supporting multi-cultural families.
The company published a Korean food cooking book designed for all multi-cultural families, and the entire sales of the book has been used to support them. It also published a Korea language educational material for their children.
Its CSR activities have gone global. From 2011, the company began recue work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and passed down detailed instructions of tractors and donated vehicle parts and accessories.
Last year it started a school building project in collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP), the food assistance branch of the United Nations, and began charity programs for children in Africa.
