Economic chief to attend G20 meeting in Mexico

Korea's finance minister will leave for Mexico to attend a group of 20 meeting where he will exchange views on the latest global economy and other pending issues, his office said Friday.

The meeting of finance ministers and central bankers from G20 emerging and advanced countries will kick off on Sunday for a two-day run in Mexico City. Bahk Jae-wan will leave for the city on Saturday, according to the finance ministry.

During the meeting chaired by Mexico, participants will hold discussions on many issues facing the global economy and financial system, the ministry said.

They include the "framework" for global policy coordination and "financial inclusion" focusing on financial reforms and inclusion of underprivileged people. Talks on issues related to raw materials, energy and climate change will also be on the table, the ministry said.

Bahk is scheduled to have one-on-one meetings with his counterparts from the U.S. and Australia to discuss cooperation.

He also plans to explain the need to conduct research on the level of the "ripple effect" that G20 countries' recent actions to inject liquidity into the market have had on the global economy, according to the ministry. (Yonhap)
