The all-new BMW7 Series made its Asian debut in Korea on Thursday.

“The 7 Series is what represents BMW with its core technology, high-performance and creativity,” BMW Korea CEO Kim Hyo-joon said during a launch event at the BMW 7 Series Mobility Lounge, an exclusive showroom for customers in southern Seoul. “The 7 Series is all about BMW.”

The vehicles have been upgraded with several new high-performance engines to deliver an efficient luxury sedan, he said.

The 7 Series is available in seven trims that offer varying powertrains _ the 730d, 730Ld xDrive, 740i, 740Li, 750Li and 750Li xDrive.

In addition, the German automaker will add three more trims in October _ the 760Li, Active Hybrid 7 and Active Hybrid 7L.

Company officials said the changes in the all-new 7 Series promise high fuel efficiency, up to 25 percent better than previous models and that all vehicles will be equipped with new features such as LED headlamps and more user-friendly navigation and enhanced audio systems.

An Eco Pro mode has been added which alters the transmission shift patterns, optimizes climate control and also enables engine-decoupled coasting for maximum fuel economy.

The premium sedan has been popular in the local market despite its high price tag. The new versions’ prices range from 124.6 million to 187.6 million won.

BMW has sold the fourth-largest number of the 7 Series in Korea, following China, the U.S and Germany.

“BMW plans to provide us with 600 vehicles of the 7 Series by the end of this year, but about 500 customers have already put their names on the waiting list,” Kim said.

The BMW 7 Series Mobility Lounge will exclusively cater to high-end customers.

"The BMW 7 Series Mobility Lounge will provide the utmost customer care and differentiated lounge services,” Kim said. “This is a place where we can communicate with our customers and properly meet their needs. BMW owners will be also able to enjoy the best-possible entertainment with class."

Designed by renowned architect Joon Paik, the lounge will feature a lecture series on opera, a mini concert by world-renowned pianist Seo Hye-kyung, and style consulting, as well as the usual services for 7 Series owners. The lounge will remain open until Oct. 31.
