LG Electronics Inc., one of Korea's leading consumer appliance manufacturers, on Monday unveiled the world's largest home refrigerator that will initially be sold in the domestic market.
The R-U913LBWS model has four doors and an internal storage capacity of 910 liters that is designed to maximize user convenience.
The company said the refrigerator has 40 liters more space than the largest existing mass produced models on the market, and is 10 liters larger than a recently announced refrigerator made by rival Samsung Electronics Co.
"The new product uses LG's proprietary fourth-generation linear compressors that improve refrigeration and energy efficiency," the company said. It added that despite having larger internal volume compared to the largest conventional two-door models, external dimensions remain the same.
LG said that besides advanced technology, engineers have designed the refrigerator to make it very easy for consumers to use and to store produces.
The new model that will reach consumers in the next couple of weeks will have a base price of 3.49 million won (US$3,040). More advanced models will have price tags reaching 4.39 million won, the company said. (Yonhap)
