Daewoo Engineering targets operating income of 417.7 bil. won this year

Daewoo Engineering and Construction Co., one of Korea's leading builders, said Wednesday that it is aiming for an operating income of 417.7 billion won ($370.8 million) this year on sales of 8 trillion won.

The profit target represents a 15.0 percent jump from 367.3 billion won tallied in 2011, with sales also going up 13.8 percent on-year, the company said in a press release.

"This year Daewoo wants to expand its overall market presence as well as boost profits," it said.

The company, which will focus on enhancing its engineering and housing development capabilities

this year, added that it wants to secure 15 trillion won worth of new orders in 2012. This is a 13.0 percent hike from the record high of roughly 13.3 trillion won in construction orders secured last year.

Daewoo, meanwhile, said of all new orders it wants to secure in the coming months, the company aims to win 26.3 percent or $6.4 billion worth of orders from abroad. (Yonhap)
