HSBC Korea is seeking to punish the lender’s trade union leader Woo Taik-kyun for contacting the media without permission, an industry source familiar with the matter said Monday.
“HSBC is collecting information to punish Woo, who they say violated its code of conduct that bans an employee from contacting the media directly,” said the source.
The Korea Times reported last week that the trade union had been urging the management to unveil its plan to sell 11 retail branches to KDB Financial Group.
