Korea's import prices for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) slightly rose in December due to a hike in international oil prices, industry sources said Friday.
Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil company of Saudi Arabia, has informed South Korean importers that it has raised prices of propane and butane gas to $770 and $820, respectively, up $20 and $10 from the previous month, according to the sources.
Import prices of propane gas rose for the second straight month, while those of butane gas rebounded after a drop in November. They reached an all-time high of $945 for propane gas and $995 for butane gas in May.
South Korea's local importers adjust their LPG prices on a monthly basis, based on import prices, currency rates, taxes and other costs. (Yonhap)
