Hyundai Sonata deemed “Best Family Car” in US

Listen

Facing stiff competition against rivals such as the Toyota Camry, the Hyundai Sonata – redesigned for 2011 – managed to secure the title of “Best Family Car” in an analysis survey by Edmunds.com, a respected automotive website.

The analysis was conducted in partnership with Parents magazine, a family-oriented publication that deals with child-rearing issues.

To compile the list of the best family cars, experts from both publications analyzed several factors, placing prime importance on safety and reliability. Also, the researchers interviewed real-life parents who had actually driven the cars.

From the hundreds of vehicles on the market, the researchers eventually gleaned the list down to 15, and placed the Hyundai Sonata in first place for its strong showing.

The Korean sedan had plenty of rear legroom and good fuel economy compared with similar-sized cars, said Parents.

This year marks the second year in a row that Korean automakers have won the coveted ranking. Hyundai’s win comes on the heels of Kia’s triumph with its Soul, a mid-range hatchback which came in first place last year.
