Kwon Hyuk-se, 54, vice chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), has been tapped to head its regulatory arm the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), the FSC said Tuesday.
The FSC said that it will recommend Kwon as governor of the FSS, the investigative and supervising body of the FSC, at a regular meeting on Wednesday. Kwon’s appointment will be made final if President Lee Myung-bak approves it.
The Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, native has served at the finance ministry and the FSC for three decades since 1980 after he passed a state exam for senior public servants after studying business administration at Seoul National University.
