American investor Buffett to visit Korea in March

U.S. billionaire investor Warren Buffett is set to visit South Korea for the first time in nearly four years to take part in a local firm's plant groundbreaking ceremonyin Daegu late next month, officials said Tuesday.

Buffett is expected to visit Daegu, 302 kilometers southeast of Seoul, to participate in TaeguTec Ltd.'s plant groundbreaking ceremony on March 21, according TaeguTec officials.

TaeguTec, a mid-size firm specializing in metal products, became an unit of Berkshire Hathaway when the investment company headed by Buffett took over an 80 percent stake of Israel-based International Metalworking Companies Group in 2006, the parent of TaeguTec.

Buffett's visit next month will mark his second visit to the country after his initial visit to TaeguTec in October 2007. (Yonhap)
