New EXIM Bank chief named

Kim Yong-hwan, 59, a senior financial regulator, was promoted to head the state-run Export-Import Bank of Korea (EXIM Bank).

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance said that Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) First Senior Deputy Governor Kim was tapped as the bank CEO.

Kim will take the helm of the state-run lender as soon as he gets a nod from President Lee Myung-bak.

The Sungkyunkwan University graduate served in the finance ministry as a director of welfare and living division before moving to the FSS. He also worked as a securities industry supervising director, chief spokesman and a general director of supervising policy bureau at the financial watchdog agency,

Kim is known for good work ethic, strong leadership and excellent communication skills.
