LG Display, the world's second-biggest flat-screen maker, has swung to a quarterly loss for the first time in nearly two years due to the steep price falls in LCDs and a big fine imposed by the European Union (EU) for price fixing.

In a regulatory filing to the Korea Exchange, the LG Group's key display-making unit said it posted a 387 billion won operating loss during the fourth quarter of last year, while the quarterly net loss was tallied at 268 billion won.

Sales during the October-December period improved 10 percent to 6.48 trillion won from 5.9 trillion won year-on-year.
