Shinhan Card will become a respected member of the corporate society here by continuously promoting interests of individual customers and society at large, company head Lee Jae-woo said.

``Since 2004, we have been seeking to perform greater roles and responsibilities as a corporate citizen, while increasing customer wealth and convenience by strictly observing our fundamental principles. To beef up our corporate social responsibility, we have organized a volunteer group through which employees and executives spare time and effort to help those in need across the country,'' he said.

As a result of its contribution to making Korea a better place to live for many low-income families and other disadvantaged, Shinhan Card won Presidential Citation in December 2009. Last year, a total of 3,398 employees spent 11,679 hours in social contribution activities, such as ``Kimchi Sharing Event'' and ``Beautiful Teenage Award.''

To promote donation among its cardholders, the plastic issuer has also launched ``Beautiful Card,'' enabling users to donate cash points accumulated through card spending. The company also plans to host a range of events in which children from poor families can experience diverse cultural events.

``We are faithfully fulfilling our corporate social responsibilities as a leading financial institution that supports the development of the financial industry and the nation's economic well-being as a whole. We will take a step further to meet our social, environmental and ethical duties and advance efforts to satisfy employees, customers and other stakeholders,'' he stressed.

Shinhan Card is also setting an example for other credit card issuers in how to maximize customer satisfaction.

``We hold a ``Customer Day'' event on a regular basis, with a group of executives and employees visiting branch offices nationwide to offer customers various gifts to show appreciation for their support,'' Lee said.

To better serve customers, CEO Lee himself and company executives often visit a call center and directly consult with Shinhan Card users and hear their concerns.
