Samsung Card CEO Choi Doh-seok has a very simple management philosophy. He believes that a company should place top priority on building trust with consumers by providing them with customer-tailored products and services on a continuing basis.
Based on his philosophy, the 60-year-old finance specialist invented the so-called "3P Innovations," referring to products, the process and people. This business principle has successfully taken root in the plastic issuer, which encourages employees to be creative in every part of business.
Product innovation means creating value-added, competitive products by understanding customer tastes. Process innovation is about reducing wasted time by setting up a standard system. People innovation is an idea designed to develop talented manpower by encouraging employees to improve their professional knowledge.
Choi, who took office in March last year, is known as a veteran finance expert with a proven track record in risk management, although he spent most of his career at Samsung Electronics. He once served as CFO for the electronic giant.
The Yonsei University graduate started his career at Cheil Industries, a clothing subsidiary of Samsung Group, in 1975. Later he moved to Samsung Electronics, and worked for the global IT firm for more than 10 years as CFO from 1997.
