Korea is still the most attractive market for single malt whiskies with huge potential, an executive of a renowned Scottish-based distiller said Tuesday.

The country currently has the fifth largest market in Asia, but is regarded to have the biggest potential in its market size and preference for spirits, said Robert Hill, global director and brand ambassador of Scottish spirits maker William Grant & Sons (WGS), the maker of famous single malt whisky brand Glenfiddich.

More and more customers here are beginning to relish whiskies in authentic ways, given the notorious drinking culture represented by ``bomb shots,'' he added.

The Scottish firm is poised to plunge into the competition here after launching its Korean unit, William Grant & Sons Korea (WGSK), in January. Hill is visiting Korea to promote the Scottish producer's latest global branch.
