Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) has called for a prompt resolution to the disputes related to the sale of equity in the bank by its major shareholder.

In a statement signed by 680 executive officers and ranking bank officials, the bank said the disputes related to the major shareholder have resulted in exhaustive debates regarding the eligibility of the major shareholder without any concrete solutions being found.

It also said the protracted disputes have exerted significant effects on the reputation and brand value of KEB, adding that the issue poses a grave problem to the bank.

KEB urged the Korean government to promptly resolve the issue.

``It is regrettable to see the continued uncertainty over the future of the bank due to the disputes,'' a spokesman for the bank said.

``We hope for a prompt resolution so that we can lay the foundations for the bank to take its next leap forward,'' he added.
