``Commercials will continue, even if viewers change the channel!’’
Changil Adasset’s new advertisement method is catching the eyes of the market as it provides a technology that offers intensive and effective options of advertising for local businesspeople.
Changil Adasset, a leader in the field of televised banner advertisements, said that it has developed the ``Digital STB CF-BOX II,’’ an upgraded version of its CF-BOX, which guarantees full HD resolution.
A set-top box for television at home and public places, the CF-BOX series enables advertisers to deliver banner commercials along the bottom of the television screen.
Normally, a commercial on the television is cut off when the channel is switched. But once the CF-BOX is installed, an advertisement will continue running even if the channel is changed.
Changil Adasset developed the set-top box mainly for use in public places such as express bus terminals, banks, general hospitals and public saunas where a number of people stay for some time.
CF-BOX II, released late last year, is the culmination of the firm’s technology, which overcame the shortcomings of the previous version to secure higher resolution while maintaining price competitiveness. One set-top box is priced at less than 300,000 won (roughly $305).
Local businessmen such as owners of nearby restaurants can use this advertisement system, since it allows them to deliver ads to certain districts without much cost, according to the company.
Changil Adasset, which jumped into the banner commercials business this year, said that it guarantees systemic and aggressive sales as it has executives with more than 20 years of experience in newspaper advertising.
``We expect that we can establish a nationwide advertisement network within a year with our potential to dominate the TV banner commercials market,’’ said Lee Heun-se, a managing director.
He said the prospects are quite bright since there are a growing number of hospitals, jjimjilbang (Korean-style sauna) and other places that try to draw more customers with large HDTVs and local advertisers are also looking for more efficient methods of advertising.
