South Korea's industrial output rose at a faster-than-expected pace in January on brisk exports of semiconductors, automobiles, and audio equipment, a government
report showed Tuesday.
Industrial production jumped 11.8 percent on-year during the month, with the service sector posting an annual expansion of 7.7 percent, according to the Korea National Statistical Office (NSO).
The January reading for industrial output was higher than analysts' estimates. Economists polled by Yonhap Infomax, the financial news arm of Yonhap News Agency, put their median industrial output growth estimate at 11.5 percent. (Yonhap)
