Still keeping up with your New Year's resolutions? If you are, then you're part of the diligent minority, as a recent survey shows that more than 60 percent of those who promised to better themselves are early dropouts.

A poll of 1,222 working men and women done by the salary data site Open Salary said those who set detailed goals mostly quit after 10 days, while almost 13 percent said they gave up after 15 days.

A little over 20 percent said they discontinued after just a week and there were those (9 percent) who said one day was enough.

So which resolutions drove the ambitious to throw in the towel?

Studies topped the list, followed by exercising (17 percent), dieting (14.5 percent) and quitting smoking (8.5 percent).

Among reasons for their ``failure,'' a majority of respondents (37.2 percent) highlighted work as the biggest obstacle in pursuing their plans, followed by the inability to fix longstanding personal habits (30 percent).

``It's important to constantly remind yourself of your plans by writing down detailed goals in small notes and posting them in visible places,'' said Shin Sang-hoon, a personal development consultant at online recruiter Incruit. ``Writing a diary is also helpful to keep going.''

For those quitters, the Lunar New Year's holiday may be a good time to get back on track.
