Foreign Stock Investors Net Selling Jumps in November
Foreign investors sold more South Korean stocks in November than in the previous month on renewed concerns over a global credit crunch, the bourse operator said Monday.
According to the Korea Exchange, foreigners sold a net $7.59 billion worth of shares on the main and secondary tech-heavy bourses last month, compared with $226 million a month earlier. They remained net sellers of local stocks for a sixth straight month, it added.
South Korea's share prices fell 7.69 percent in November as investors were worried over a global credit squeeze and a possible monetary tightening by China, the exchange said. But despite a correction in November, Seoul's stock prices have risen 32.9 percent so far this year.
As of the end of November, foreigners owned 32.3 percent of South Korean stocks listed on the main bourse, down from 32.5 percent a month earlier.
