Electrolux, the world’s largest white goods maker, has set the goal of selling 40,000 units of its latest pricey Zanussi-branded cleaners in South Korea by 2008.
``Considering the rapidly increasing high-end market, we are positive about achieving the goal,’’ an official from the Sweden-based company said.
The company’s sales from January through August this year grew 43 percent from a year ago, bringing its domestic market share to 17 percent behind LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics.
Electrolux CEO Morten Falkenberg said in an interview with The Korea Times earlier this month that the company is eager to expand opportunities in the local premium home appliances market.
Last week, Electrolux signed a contract with the country’s largest retailer, E-Mart, to sell four models of cleaners _ three vacuum cleaners and a handy cleaner under the brand name of Italian home appliances maker Zanussi from October.
Electrolux sells over 40 million consumer products annually in some 150 countries. It has manufacturing facilities in 56 locations in 19 countries around the world.
