Chrysler Group sales outside North America grew 24 percent in July from a year ago, the best performance in over a decade, according to the South Korean unit of the American automaker Wednesday.

Chrysler Korea said in a press release that the group sold 20,944 cars outside the United States in July, largely fueled by increasing demand in emerging markets such as Latin America where sales were up 48 percent.

In South Korea, the company sold 404 cars in July, up 116 percent compared with the same month last year, taking the fifth place in the country’s imported car market.

Thanks to the latest feat, the automotive group’s accumulated sales so far this year has reached 135,257 units, up 18 percent from the seven-month period last year. ``It also marked unprecedented sales growth for 26 consecutive months,’’ the company said.
