Statistics Korea, jointly with a U.N. body tasked with women’s empowerment, is hosting a workshop for female bureaucrats from 10 ASEAN countries, it said Monday.
It said the workshop started on Monday for a five-day run at its training institute in Sejong, in cooperation with the U.N. Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality.
The U.N. Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific is also taking part in the workshop, to help achieve the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on education and gender equality.
“The workshop is anticipated to help Korea share its digitized statistical data, including big data, and contribute to implementing the U.N. SDGs,” Statistics Korea said in a press release.
“We will continue to work with relevant countries for mutual benefit and friendship, and enhance Korea’s international reputation in the field of statistics."
A total of 21 officials from the 10 ASEAN countries are participating in the workshop. It consists of multiple sessions, with lectures given by officials from the two aforementioned U.N. bodies as well as Statistics Korea.
