Hanryu Holdings, a content platform company, celebrated its listing on the Nasdaq by ringing the opening bell at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square, New York, Thursday, U.S. time.
The operator of FANTOO, an online global fandom platform, Hanryu Holdings' stocks began trading on the Nasdaq market with the "HRYU" ticker on Aug. 1. It is the first Korean startup company to be directly listed on the Nasdaq, two years after Korea's retail giant Coupang made its debut in 2021.
Kang Chang-hyuk, CEO of the firm, rang the opening bell, as the event was broadcast from Times Square and livestreamed globally.
The event, hosted upon the invitation of Nasdaq headquarters, was attended by various officials from Hanryu Holdings, domestic and international media representatives, investment banking officials and distinguished guests, including Aegis Capital Chairman Robert J. Eide and Dominari Securities CEO Kyle Wool. Choi Hyun-seung, director general of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, also attended the event as the guest of honor.
'Today is an exciting day as we welcome Hanryu Holdings to the Nasdaq family. We look forward to a successful partnership with Hanryu Holdings as they join the Nasdaq community, and we consider it an honor to share the Nasdaq opening bell, a symbol of their hard work and dedication," Nasdaq Vice Chairman Bob McCooey said during his congratulatory speech at the event.

Hanryu Holdings aims to invest the capital raised during the IPO in stabilizing and innovating its key infrastructure, including bolstering FANTOO services, organizing event marketing and enhancing AI technology.
'The global success of K-culture continues every year, with the Korean wave at its core. Through our platform FANTOO, we connect millions of users with Korean wave content and cutting-edge technology," said an official from Hanryu Holdings who was present at the bell-ringing ceremony.
"We've concentrated our company-wide efforts on listing on Nasdaq in the U.S., and we expect continuous growth. Our goal is for FANTOO to be the central hub for K-culture enthusiasts in the future," he highlighted, adding that FANTOO will integrate advanced global technologies such as AI.

Aiming to expand its global presence, Hanryu Holdings is partnering with Saltlux, a renowned AI firm, to develop AI services for FANTOO. The firm is also actively securing various revenue streams through collaborations with events like the Asia Model Festival and the U.S. clothing brand Papaya.
