The SK Wyverns had their 16-game winning streak ended in a close call, with a 2-1 loss against the seventh-placed Nexen Heroes Wednesday in Incheon.

The Wyverns, tops in the current standings of the Korea Baseball Organization league, failed to get over the Heroes starter Adrian Burnside at home, while Doug Clark and Kim Min-woo slammed solo home runs off Wyverns' starter Kim Kwang-hyun in the fourth and fifth inning, respectively to lead the Heroes' way.

They were the only runs Kim, tops in ERA with a surprising 0.29 before the game, allowed in his 5 2/3-inning stint. But the 21-year-old lefty was overshadowed by Burnside, who displayed his best performance this season, before suffering his first loss after four straight wins.

The Australian hurler pitched for 7 1/3 innings and gave up only one inning on four hits, including a solo home run by Choi Jeong in the seventh.

Sohn Seung-rak replaced Burnside in the eighth and blanked the Wyverns for the remaining 1 2/3 innings, including a double-play grounder off Jeong Keun-woo, to earn the save.
