N. Korea fires projectile into sea for 2nd day

North Korea fired a projectile off the Korean Peninsula's east coast Sunday, Seoul military officials said, a day after the communist nation launched three short-range projectiles into the East Sea, ignoring South Korea's demands to stop such "provocative" actions.

It is not uncommon for North Korea to launch short-range missiles or projectiles, but the latest tests occurred as tensions triggered by the North's nuclear test in February seemed to be de-escalating.

South Korea's military detected the fourth launch of a projectile that was fired in a northeasterly direction over North Korean waters Sunday afternoon, a military official said.
