Is there any correlation between saju and face readings? The simple answer is yes. But it requires a certain elaborative explanation.

First of all, we must discern the differences between physiognomy and facial impressions in reading faces. When I read faces, it refers to physiognomy. It is to foretell people’s destiny by reading not only their faces but their overall body shapes formed by osteological features, which include their posture, body language and even voice tones.

While saju solely originated from ancient Asian philosophy, physiognomy has roots both in the East and West. Basically reading people’s faces was done to evaluate their personalities and aptitudes in the West but Asian culture has developed its theory to infer their fate as well.

It is based on the belief a person’s mind and spirit are reflected in their appearances. The primitive archetype under this belief is the analogy between nature and humans. To put it more concretely, the human body, especially the face, is emulated after nature, such as mountains, trees, rocks, rivers and animals. This is because a human being is the most important substantial being among all the objects in the universe. If we contemplate nature, we may also figure out what a human’s face is revealing.

When it comes to the specifics, we divide the face parts into three: upper, middle and lower parts. The upper part ― from the forehead to the eyebrows ― is about one’s early years, from birth to 34 years old and called ``Heaven’s part.’’ It reveals inherent fortune and reputation. The middle part ― from the protuberant parts of the eyelids to the tip of the nose ― is about one’s middle life, 35 to 50 years and called the ``Human part.’’ It reveals one’s career, money, marriage and ambitions. The lower part ― from the tip of the nose to the chin ― is about one’s later years and called the ``Earth part.’’ It reveals upkeep of properties including financial and human relationships and real estate.

Then more in-depth truths are divulged by distinct parts of the face. For example, when we want to know the features of a politician’s life, we must read their forehead and cheekbones. On the other hand, that of a businessman can be read by the nose ― the shape of the nostrils ― and the chin. Love life is revealed by the eye slant and fat under the eyes.

Going back to our original question, when the saju has great energy related with authority and power, it is reflected in one’s face, especially in the cheekbones and foreheads. Those who achieved wealth may have their luck cast on their noses. Above all, we need to be aware of the fact that eyes are critical in our face.

It is natural that faces change with age. A fortunate life may become an unfortunate one, or vice versa, by a certain event in one’s life journey.
