Special Envoy Meets Spanish Prime Minister
Han Seung-soo, a special presidential envoy, met with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Louis Rodriguez Zapatero, Thursday, and delivered a letter from President Lee Myung-bak, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The visit came ahead of next year's 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between South Korea and Spain.
Han, a former prime minister, and Zapatero exchanged views on expanding practical cooperation in trade, investment and the development of renewable energy, the ministry said in a press release.
They agreed to work closely to expand relations through exchanges of personnel and joint events commemorating six decades of ties, it said.
The envoy asked for Spain's cooperation in the ratification of the Korea-European Union (EU) free trade agreement and for Seoul's successful hosting of the G-20 summit in November next year.
