K-pop boy group SHINee is gearing up to return to the K-pop scene with the new album “Don't Call Me.”
The group's agency SM Entertainment announced Monday that the group will release its seventh studio album on Feb. 22. The new album will have nine songs of various genres.
The group gave fans a glimpse of what's in store on the new album, performing one of its tracks “Marry You” during the livestream fan event “The Ringtone: SHINee is Back,” Sunday.
This will be the group's first release since it put out the album “The Story of Light” in 2018.
The new project breaks the group's long hiatus which allowed three of the members to serve their mandatory military service.
Group leader Onew was the first to enlist in December 2018 and was discharged last July. Key and Minho also joined soon after ― in March and April 2019, respectively ― and completed their service late last year. Taemin, the youngest member, has yet to serve his mandatory military duty.
SHINee debuted in 2008 with its first album "Replay." The group shot to stardom shortly after and has since released a string of hits, including "Ring Ding Dong" (2009) and "Lucifer" (2010). The members also have been pursuing solo pursuits in music and acting.
Onew starred in the hit TV series “Descendants of the Sun” (2016) and Minho took the lead role in several TV series and films like “Battle of Jangsari” (2019). Key and Taemin released solo albums.
