LG CNS partners with Samjong KMPG in smart factory security

IT service company LG CNS said Monday it partnered with Samjong KPMG in the smart factory security business.
LG CNS' smart factory security systems have been adopted by 40 smart factories here and overseas. Samjong KPMG, meanwhile, has an organization in charge of smart factory security consulting which is providing services for Korea's top companies.
The two firms held a ceremony, Monday, marking their partnership at Samjong KPMG's headquarters in southern Seoul.
Based on the partnership, the two companies will jointly seek new clients, foster professionals and hold conferences on smart factory security.
At smart factories, equipment improve processes through automation and self-optimization. Cutting-edge technology is also incorporated into planning, supply chain logistics and product development.
The security of smart factories that incorporate artificial intelligence, cloud and 5G technology has become critical given the risks that can arise when manufacturing data is connected to external networks.
Cyberattacks can halt the operations of countless factories, meaning strengthening operation technology has become imperative for those in the manufacturing industry.
According to LG CNS, the company has extensive on-site experience in setting up, operating and controlling smart factory security systems. It has applied its security systems to 40 smart factories of LG Group here and overseas since 2018. LG CNS holds 16 smart factory security patents.
Samjong KPMG's smart factory security consulting unit is focused on setting up mid-to-long-term strategies for its clients.
According to 2019 data from research firm Markets & Markets, the local smart factory market is forecast to grow to $15.3 billion in 2024 from $8.9 billion in 2019. The market for security systems is expected to grow together with the market for smart factories.
"It is difficult to make a successful digital transition in a hyper-connected society without thorough security," Bae Min, an executive in charge of LG CNS' digital technology innovation division's security business, said. "We will provide smart factory security services that customers can trust in, by integrating Samjong KPMG's consulting capabilities and LG CNS' technology."
Samjong KPMG's partner Kim Min-soo who heads the company's cybersecurity business said, "Because LG CNS holds sufficient experience in setting up smart factory security systems that are optimized for the local manufacturing industry, it will be able to create great synergy with KPMG's global operational technology security strategies and consulting techniques."
