Korean Air 007
Date : 2018-09-01 / Hit : 585
On August 31, 1983 a horrific tragedy occurred during the darkest days of the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union when Korean Airlines 007 was shot down over Sakhalin Island killing 269 passengers and crew. The flight originated at Kennedy International Airport in New York City with a stopover in Anchorage, Alaska for refueling and then to its final destination of Seoul, Korea. However, something went wrong and the airliner somehow strayed into Soviet airspace and was shot down by a Soviet fighter jet killing all passengers and crew. Unfortunately, it seems that we have forgotten that horrible incident as time passed on. Yes, it has been 35 years since that tragedy occurred, but let us all take this time now to remember it, and pray for the families and victims of Korean Air Flight 007.
