American ice-cream brand Haagen-Dazs will host a tasting titled "Haagen-Dazs & Lounge" in Tokyo on Mar. 24-25.
The event, from 1p.m. to 8 p.m. at a studio decorated in black and white in Jingu district, will introduce the "double cookie and cream" flavor to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original "cookie and cream," according to the maker. Visitors can taste both flavors free.
The tasting will be in a lounge bar, particularly targeting women in their 20s and 30s, who are the main eaters of sweets in the country.
The ice cream will be served in a wine or champagne glass with colorful decorations. The event's official website asks visitors to dress in all black or all white, showing pictures of women as an example.
The site says the event will "feel like being at a luxurious, mature, expensive alcohol bar."
Compared to other countries, Japan has been consistently enthusiastic about the brand.
According to a Naver Japan survey, Haagen-Dazs lead Japanese ice cream sales for two weeks in a row in February.
