Samsung Biologics will take part in 2023 DCAT Week, a global event in the bio and pharmaceutical industry, which will take place in New York from March 20 to 23, in a bid to seek more partnerships, the company said Thursday.
Hosted by the Drug, Chemical & Associated Technologies Association (DCAT), DCAT Week has been a representative networking event in the pharmaceutical industry since 1890.
More than 90 percent of the participants are high-level executives who are directly in charge of making decisions, so the event is regarded as a place to intensively discuss partnerships between companies.
A total of more than 700 companies and over 10,000 participants from around 50 countries joined the 2022 event and about 12,000 people are expected to attend this year.
Samsung Biologics, the leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) drug maker, has taken part in the event every year since 2016 except in 2020, which was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its CEO John Rim will also join this year's event.
"Samsung Biologics will participate in this event as a sponsor of major programs along with global pharmaceutical companies. In particular, our CEO will take part to promote the company's differentiated CDMO competitiveness and business vision and interact with key figures in the pharmaceutical industry," the company said.
Also, on the first day of the event, Kevin Sharp, vice president and head of the Strategic Operations Team and Global Sales Center at Samsung Biologics, will deliver a speech during the Member Company Announcement Forum to share the company's mid- to long-term vision, such as the expansion of its production facility.
As part of the efforts to strengthen networks with large companies in the U.S., Samsung Biologics will open a sales office in New Jersey on March 19, where major companies in the industry are located,
Samsung expects the sales office to help widen its gap with competitors by strengthening global networks to win more orders and improve communication with its clients.
