Kumho Tire has received Germany's prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2021 for its Ecsta V730 tire in the product design category.

The Red Dot Design Award is a German international design prize awarded by Red Dot GmbH. Prize categories include product design, brands, communication design and design concept.

Since 1955, the awards have been given to designers and producers, while the winners are announced at an annual ceremony.

Over the years, the award ceremony has gained a reputation of being the largest and most-prestigious design award.

It is among the top three international design awards along with Germany's International Forum Design and U.S. International Design Excellence Award (IDEA). The winning product is showcased at the Red Dot Design Museum.

The Ecsta V730 is optimized for high performance vehicles including sports cars and racing vehicles where one hundredth of a second makes a difference.

The tire is ultra-high performance and comes with a sturdy block design, which makes driving safer and enhances handling capabilities. It contains optimized technologies that could decrease circuit time.

For the tread design, Kumho Tire utilized an asymmetrical pattern that is both suitable for dry and wet surfaces. Numerous super computer simulations have led to an optimum design that could drastically reduce noise while on the road, while maximizing the racing experience for drivers.

The sidewall's bears a motive derived from a dynamic racing flag which enhances the racing tire image.

"Last year, Kumho Tire racked up top four international design awards proving its superiority in product technology and design," a Kumho Tire official said. "Kicking off this year with the Red Dot Design Award, we will take responsibility to do our upmost in product and technology research and development."
