Hyundai Motor Group's luxury brand Genesis said Wednesday it will launch its first SUV ― the GV80 ― this month in a bid to strengthen its lineup.
Unveiling the design of the much-touted flagship SUV, Genesis said it will roll out in the domestic market by the end of this month and make its global debut as early as this summer.

The three-row GV80 lies in the large SUV segment, but showcases a coupe-like roofline. Surrounded by quad lamps, its crest-shape grille is filled with diamond patterns, and the two lines on the flank of the vehicle embody its volume and dynamism, the company said.
The vehicle's interior focuses on minimalism, despite its technology. The cockpit is surrounded by high-mounted control surfaces, which are highlighted by silver dials, allowing the driver to tweak the features.
There also are a slew of new driver-assist technologies. Among them is a machine learning-based smart cruise control that uses the vehicle's artificial intelligence to analyze the driver's driving pattern and mimic it.
Other technologies include navigation-based auto slow down, lane change assist and several features in Hyundai's Highway Drive Assist II package. Infotainment features also have been improved.
The GV80 will feature an augmented reality navigation system for the first time among Korean brands. Other features, such as Genesis car pay, an in-vehicle payment system, and enhanced voice command, will enhance convenience, the brand said.
Also included is Hyundai's original Road-noise Active Noise Control, which reduces noise by emitting sound waves.

Genesis did not reveal the GV80's powertrain specs, but said it will be based on a rear-wheel-drive platform. All-wheel drive will be optional.
“Over the last four years, Genesis established itself as a respected luxury brand with superior vehicle quality and a lineup of class-leading sedans with charismatic and discriminating style,” said William Lee, executive vice president and global head of Genesis. “With the launch of the GV80, Genesis will elevate expectations for excellence within the luxury SUV market.”
