Intel released its latest 10th-generation Core processors, Ice Lake and Comet Lake, in Korea, Thursday, in a bid to solidify its presence in the central processing unit (CPU) market.
The Ice Lake 10-nanometer processor offers a unique entertainment experience as well as artificial intelligence (AI) technology, while the Comet Lake 14-nanometer processor realizes tremendous productivity improvements, according to the company.
"We have redoubled our efforts to innovate PC users' experience and create a new form factor through cooperation with various partners including hardware and software providers as well as manufacturers of finished products," Intel Korea CEO Kwon Myung-sook said during a media conference in Seoul.
Intel APJ sales manager Jack Huang said the Ice Lake processor is equipped with the latest Intel Iris Plus graphics, providing advanced 3D performance for gaming PCs.
The product also optimizes high-resolution photo processing as well as 4K video streaming and editing.
The company has applied AI technologies to the new products so users will have "smarter" computers.
The new processor family features Intel Deep Learning Boost capabilities for AI deep learning inference acceleration.
For example, when a user has thousands of photos in their PC, the AI automatically distinguishes between blurry or distorted photographs and clear ones.
Huang said the Ice Lake processor also offers the highest level of connectivity, noting that the company has optimized AI, graphics and connectivity in a system-on-a-chip so PC manufacturers can utilize various functions while making PCs thinner.
"The new processor has three strengths ― intelligent performance, stunning visual entertainment and connectivity," Huang said.
Meanwhile, the Comet Lake processor has been designed to enhance productivity.
Huang said the chip is expected to improve productivity and multi-tasking performance by more than 40 percent in Office 365, compared to previous models.
He said the tech company will continue to stimulate the PC ecosystem by offering cutting-edge products, noting that the firm will give people a reason to change their PCs.
He added the company is also focusing on the new high-performance segment that has been on the rise amid the emergence of media creators and YouTubers.
"Building this new segment is one of the keys to Intel's PC strategy," he said.
