Hyundai Glovis has opened a new branch in Chongqing, China, which it aims to use as the company's new foothold linking Southwestern China and Europe, the logistics firm said Tuesday.
According to Hyundai Glovis, the new branch is its 14th operation base in China, following branches in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Chongqing is one of the logistics hubs in Southwestern China as the Trans China Railway heading to Europe passes through the city. It is also an important road transportation hub as its roads link major cities in Southeast Asia, and the Yangtze River runs through the city, reaching the east coast of the mainland.
Hyundai Glovis said it will provide supply chain management services to local companies manufacturing auto parts, semiconductors, electric devices and energy equipment.
"Chongqing is one of top five cities in China by GDP and serves as the gateway to Southwestern China, Europe and Southeast Asia," a Hyundai Glovis official said. "With our expertise in overseas logistics and our vast network in China, we will make a successful entry into the local market and enhance our global logistics business."
