Kellogg Korea has banned the use of disposable cups and other single-use items at its offices here in a "Go Green" campaign.
The Korean unit of the American food brand will also step up efforts to generate less waste and save water and energy to protect the environment. In line with this, the company will by 2025 have its all products wrapped with materials that can be recycled or converted into fertilizers.
"We have decided to launch the campaign after reading a shocking United Nations report predicting that unless people cut back on the use of plastic and disposable products, plastic waste will outnumber fish in the ocean by 2050," said Kellogg Korea chief executive Kim Jong-woo. "We will do everything we can to protect the environment."
Kellogg's global headquarters in Michigan has run a "Nurturing Our Planet" campaign under which it has significantly reduced plastic waste and greenhouse emissions from its offices and plants across the globe.
