An international conference offering a glimpse of startup trends in Asia will take place at Pangyo in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, from Sept. 5 to 7.
Pangyo Startup Campus, the conference organizer and Korea's largest startup complex, said Wednesday it will host the Asia Startup Summit 2018 (ASSUM 2018) conference.
The organizer said the three-day conference will be a place to share the latest information about startup policies and the business environment in Asian countries.
The conference will feature eight startup incubators including Pangyo Startup Campus, China's Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab (SZOIL), the Philippines' IdeaSpace Foundation, HATCH of Vietnam and PlatformE of Singapore.
“At the conference, participants can share Asia's startup policies and the current status of each country's startup ecosystem,” the organizer said. “The conference is also expected to contribute to vitalization of the startup market in Asia and construction of an ecosystem that helps Korean startups head abroad.”
The ASSUM 2018 conference will begin with keynotes from speakers including Park Sung-hoon, CEO of Korea's leading game company Netmarble, and SZOIL founder David Li.
On the last day of the conference, there will be a “Startup Battle” event in which 13 venture firms from eight Asian countries will compete with their business ideas. The organizer said the event is expected to generate fierce competition as the total prize money for the event will be 40 million won ($36,000).
