Korean consumers will be able to buy 50 types of McDonald's meals via the Kakao Talk mobile messenger app starting 10 a.m. this Friday, according to the U.S.-based hamburger and fast food restaurant chain, Wednesday.
McDonald's Korea said it will allow customers to buy and gift various types of meals as mobile vouchers using Kakao Talk's in-app gift shop.
More than 20 types of hamburgers including the premium handcrafted Signature Burger, Big Mac, McSpicy Shanghai Burger and 1955 Burger will be available, as well as 10 types of desserts, such as the sundae and McFlurry, and around 20 types of McCafe items like Americano and latte.
Kakao Talk users will be able to easily browse the McDonald's menu on the messenger app through typing "McDonald's" or "McCafe" in the search box in Korean, or accessing "burger" or "cafe" categories under the "brand" category.
"For more customers to enjoy McDonald's easier and faster with mobile vouchers, we decided to offer our menu on the nation's largest mobile platform Kakao Talk," an official of the McDonald's Korea digital division said.
"We hope customers share pleasant experiences with their acquaintances by buying popular McDonald's meals and by giving the vouchers as gifts on Kakao Talk's gift shop."
