A massive fight involving hundreds of factory workers broke out at a Samsung Display plant in Vietnam, Tuesday, according to media reports.

VnExpress, a Vietnamese online media outlet, said employees of Samsung Display clashed with guards at the plant in the country's northern Bac Ninh Province.

Speaking to VnExpress, an eyewitness said the conflict occurred between a male worker and guards after lunch at around 1 p.m. over unclear reasons.

"The guards pulled him into their room and there was a fight. Many other workers were angry and chased after the guards," the witness said.

After a couple of tense hours, police came and cleared the crowd and more than 10 officers stayed there to prevent further clashes, it reported.

A representative from Samsung Vietnam said the conflict was not between workers and the company.

The source said that one of the guards was injured and all the workers are fine.

Samsung Display has recently received a license to invest $2.5 billion in Vietnam, boosting its total investment in the country to $6.5 billion.

Samsung Display brings OLED panels manufactured in Korea to the Vietnamese factory and turns them into modules with circuits before sending them to affiliate Samsung Electronics.
