New Breakthrough in Outerwear
New Breakthrough in Outerwear
It seems advertising is taking a stab at a new approach to reel in sales. Yet, when we hear the word ‘collagen’ do we think of a trip to the cosmetic clinic for a lip injection or the material going into a new shirt? Apparently the makers here at this local Korean clothing store see it differently when marketing their stylish apparel. Clearly a gimmick, the sign really stands...

Toilet Segregation?
Toilet Segregation?
This amusing sign was recently spotted at a beachside toilet in Gyeongpo, suggesting foreigners should use their own style of toilet. Does this include Indian, African, European or South American people? Many cultures squat when using the toilet. Perhaps the sign should be changed to ``Western Toilet.’’ / Courtesy of S. Phillips

A Well-Looking Example?
A Well-Looking Example?
Posture is of great importance and can lead to a world of problems if not properly maintained. At least that’s what this foot and back clinic wanted to convey with its sign in Cheongdam’s affluent residential area. Intent on setting an example of the perfect posture with help of their trademark product, the slogan itself sort of comes across a little differently. It should ...

‘Natural Beauty’ Plastic Surgery Clinic?
‘Natural Beauty’ Plastic Surgery Clinic?
Taken at a bus stop in the coastal city of Busan, this particular clinic promises a ``fix’’ like all the many others found in major cities do. Given that the trusty hands of the surgeons involved can most likely re-model the looks of its loyal clients to ``appear’’ natural, going ``under...

‘Memorizing’ Your Marriage?
‘Memorizing’ Your Marriage?
Photographing those special moments and freezing them for a lifetime of reflection to be shared by the very ones we love dearly. Yet, we get an altogether different impression from this logo. Though having less to do with ’not forgetting’ whom it was you married, this studio wants to help ’capture’ cherished memories rather than commit them to ’memory’ in a theoretical way, w...

Well-Made Burger?
Well-Made Burger?
The new restaurant’s signature dish in the busy area of Samseong-dong in southern Seoul is a ``well-made'' hamburger. The term ``well-made'' implies ``well-built'' or ``well put together'' and is often used as a reference to anything newly constructed. In this instance, it seems a little out of place. The idea is right in that the restaurant prepares all the ``fixings'' ...
