Korean golfer Kim Si-woo, 22, earned a spot in the upcoming Presidents Cup.
The Presidents Cup pits American golfers against international golfers (non-European). The biennial event, which took place in Incheon, Korea, two years ago, will be held at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey from Sept. 28 to Oct. 1.
Ten golfers from each side qualified on Monday and Kim Si-woo, the world No. 36, will represent the international side for the first time in his golf career.
Kim has been making his presence known this year as he became the youngest winner of the Players Championship last May. With the win at last year's Wyndham Championship, Kim is only the fourth golfer in the last 25 years to win multiple PGA Tour titles before turning 22 years old, following Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia and Jordan Spieth.
Headed by Nick Price, the international squad has two top 10 golfers including No. 3 Hideki Matsuyama of Japan and No. 9 Jason Day of Australia while Kim is the eighth highest ranked golfer on the squad.
The squad also includes two other Australian golfers, Adam Scott and March Leishman, the South African trio of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace, Jhonattan Vegas of Venezuela and Adam Hadwin of Canada. Captain Price will add two more picks Wednesday.
For Matsuyama, this is his third time to take part in the event and this will be the eighth appearance for Scott who has been competing since 2003.
The U.S. team, led by Steve Stricker, also completed its list of 10 golfers as Kevin Chappell earned the 10th berth on the U.S. squad Monday. Chappell, who won his first PGA Tour win at the Valero Texas Open in April, secured the final spot by 0.23 points ahead of Charley Hoffman.
