Mexicans have thanked Korea for helping their team advance to the round of 16 in this year's World Cup in Russia.
Mexicans took to SNS and hundreds of them gathered outside the Korean Embassy in Mexico City to show their appreciation.

In a shock result, South Korea beat defending champions Germany 2-0 in the Group F match, saving Mexico, which lost 3-0 to Sweden, from elimination. But Germany and South Korea have been eliminated.
Mexicans waved Korean and Mexican flags outside the embassy.

There was a video capture of Han Bjoung-yin on Mexican fans' shoulders while they chanted "¡Coreano, hermano, ahora eres mexicano!" which translates to "Korean, brother, now you're Mexican!"
Also in the capital, where World Cup was being streamed on big screens, Mexican fans praised Asian tourists. And there was footage showing a laughing Asian man being thrown into the air and caught by the crowd. There also were cars sporting Korean flags.

Memes spread around social media platforms, especially Twitter. "Corea" is trending on Twitter, with numerous posts about how Korea beat Germany.
"After tequila and cerveza (beer) love South Corea !!" tweeted @claudio00180764 with a photo of him holding the Korean flag.
@dahyungonzalez also tweeted: "My neighbor just left waving both Mexico's and Korea's flag with his buddies. Asked to borrow my phone so he could go around playing some Kpop. Others have passed by just to yell 'Viva Corea! (Live Korea!).'"
