The Korea Times invites readers to the 468th Turtle Marathon this Saturday.
The event, organized by the Hankook Ilbo, the sister paper of The Korea Times, and sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, will take place at Namsan.
The walkathon celebrating the foreign community and multicultural families ahead of the Chuseok holiday will be led by Seoul Vice Mayor Kim Jong-wook, Vietnamese Ambassador to Seoul Nguyen Vu Tu, former lawmaker Jasmine Lee, Public Diplomacy Ambassador Park Eun-ha, Seoul Honorary Mayor Won Ok-geum and 2017 Miss Korea Lee Si-young.
The marathon will start at Baekbeom Square, in Namsan Park's Hoehyeon area.
The 3.5-kilometer course will lead from Baekbeom Square to Malli-dong Square and then back to the starting point by way of Seoullo 7017.
All participants will be offered free drinks provided by Nongshim. A prize draw will be held at the end of the event. Prizes include duck meat gift sets, a large LED TV, Gwangcheon dried laver and athletic sneakers. A free chicken tasting will be offered to all participants.
Students participating in the cleanup afterward will receive certification for completion of three hours of volunteer work. Students can register at 1365.go.kr.
