Korean actress Park Shin-hye plans to open a "Shin-hye Center" in Manila to support needy children.

According to Park's agency, S.A.L.T. Entertainment, construction will be completed by October. The long-term project aims to help destitute children through educational activities.

Park's support for needy children started in May 2011, when she volunteered in Ghana for nine days as a goodwill ambassador of non-profit organization Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI). During the trip, she met Abanna, 5, who had malnutrition. Park played the role of a "mother" during the volunteering and helped the girl and other children take baths, eat healthy food and go to school.

The first "Shin-hye Center" was built in Ghana in December 2013. It includes a library and a playground, and provides educational programs. The Philippines center will have similar services.

Park stars in popular TV drama "Doctors" on SBS.
