Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's wife, Melania Trump, is being accused of plagiarizing a Michelle Obama speech.
Melania's speech to the Republican National Convention on Monday was unsettlingly similar to the U.S. first lady's speech during the Democratic National Convention in 2008.
Part of Michelle Obama's speech said: "… raised with the same values, like work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond and you do what you say you're going to do." Melania said: "My parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise."
The speech has gone viral, drawing wide criticism.
But the Trump campaign rejected allegations that the speech was plagiarized.
"Melania's team of writers took notes on her life inspiration, and in some instances included fragments that reflected her own thinking," said Jason Miller, the senior communication advisor for Trump's campaign.
But netizens say there are too many similarities in the speech to ignore.
"Melania's life inspiration must be Michelle Obama," one netizens wrote.
Others left sarcastic comments, such as "When its 11:30 and your paper is due at 12:00."
Michelle Obama is yet to comment.
